Power Ports

Power Ports Management

This section contains a list of power ports or outlets for PDU devices. Data on ports is collected on a regular basis during polling process using SNMP (SNMP Device Configuration Settings). Power Outlets module is responsible for the data collecting of PDU devices. You can read about a global module configuration in the Settings section.

You can also add the ports manually using a special ‘Add New Power Port’ form.

  • Port Label - the label port
  • Port number - the port number
  • Media Type - the type of port
  • Cable Colors - color of power cord, allows better identification of the port
  • Description - short description of the port
  • User Label - custom name chosen by the user, used for a better port identification

Each port can be virtually connected to any other port in the system. It’s used to identify connections between the devices. Fields such as Connected Item and Connected Port are used for this purpose. Those fields can be found in the table presenting the list of ports:

Assign Device to PDU

Connecting the device to PDU will prove useful if you do not have access to the IPMI configuration, because it will allow you to remotely manage the status of a device.

In order to assign a device to the PDU, move to the ‘Power’ section that presents the list of power supply ports for the selected device. To add a new port, enter the ‘Add New Port’ form and fill in the required fields, i.e. the port label and number.

After the port has been created, you need to connect it to the appropriate PDU’s power outlet. To do so, complete the Connected Item and Connected Port fields located in the table. You will have to choose the PDU that you want to connect the power socket to and select the appropriate PDU outlet.

The presented settings will allow us to remotely start, reboot or shutdown the device using the Power Control action in the device summary view.
