Network Interfaces and Ports

The following section contains a list of network interfaces (for devices of the Server type) or ports. Any data on the network interfaces and ports are collected on a regular basis during the polling process using SNMP protocol (SNMP Protocol Configuration Device Settings). ‘Ports’ module is responsible for collecting the data. You can read about the global module configuration in the ‘Other’ → ‘Settings’ section.

You can also add ports or network interfaces manually, just use the ‘Add New Port’ form.

  • Port Label
  • Port Number
  • Is Pullable - if checked, data on this port will be collected during device polling process
  • Description - port short description
  • User Label - custom name chosen by a user, it allows better identification of the port
  • Speed - Speed in Mbps
  • MAC Address - port MAC Address

If port is set as “Pullable” then after hovering over the field description we will see the graphs on the data flow in this port:

When you click on the description field, you will be redirected to the port summary view, where the graphs can be filtered according to specific dates:

Each port can be virtually connected to any other port in the system to identify connections better between the devices. ‘Connected Item’ and ‘Connected Port’ fields are used for such connections, they can be found on the table presenting the list of ports:

The list of options for the field Connected Port is dependent on the field Connected Item. If in the Connected Item field for example Switch 1 is selected, then the field Connected Port will automatically include a list of all ports of Switch 1. To remove the previous selection, you can change the value of the Connected Item to ‘Unassigned’, at this point, the port will be automatically ‘unselected’. This action can be also performed by using one of the icons located in the Actions column in the table.
